Here at Bright World, we just love hearing stories of "happy families" when it comes to student homestays during boarding school breaks and exeat weekends. It was particularly nice therefore, to receive unprompted updates from two different host families during the recent half term break.
Firstly, we received this picture from Clare and Andrew, a host family based in Peterborough, who were hosting Hong Kong Chinese student, Benedict, and Japanese student, Paul.
Adjoining the photo was the quote "This is Benedict and Paul cooking lunch. We are having a great time".
Later that week, we then received this gorgeous photo from Worcestershire-based family Claire & Matthew Jones, who were taking care of Japanese student, Saki.
Claire said "Saki is amazing fits in perfectly. She has been riding and is now playing table tennis. There are not many people my daughter will let ride her pony! The cat has taken a real shine to her never mind the sheep dog".
This was particularly nice to hear, considering we struggled at first to find an available host family which had lots of pets (this was Saki's main request). However, it looks as though we found the perfect match. We're sure she had a lovely time tending to the horse and the sheep dog, as well as playing table tennis, of course.
Bright World prides itself on finding excellent host families for our students. Homestay is a very important part of guardianship and the right host family can really make all the difference to the experience that a child has in the UK.
